Professor Caesar Lombroso, William Ferrero, "The Female Offender," D. Appleton & Century Co., 1985. Introduction by W. Douglas Morrison. First edition (US).

Published in the late 19th century, Lombroso and Ferrero's theories purport that women criminals are born with a biological disposition to commit certain crimes, and will present with certain physical features. A wildly flawed early work in the study of criminology. Illustrated with a variety of black and white plates.

Some light scuffs here and there to boards, as well as what appears to be a previous owner signature in middle of front board. Dust soiling at top page edges. First few pages have small tears at fore and top edges, as the paper of these pages is somewhat fragile at edges. The same previous owner signature as seen on the front board, as well as a goofy gift inscription from the '60s, on front endpaper. Binding remains sound, text clean. Overall a VG copy. Uncommon in the true first US state.
