(Robert Berks) A sketchbook with numerous drawings and one painting by Robert Berks (undated).
A variety of sketches and painted works by the sculptor Robert Berks, known for large bronze busts of such subjects as John F. Kennedy and Albert Einstein. Approximately 1/4 of this book is full of original works, beginning from both sides (the rest of the pages are blank). The works are both figurative and abstractive. There is also a page where Berks appears to have cut out a drawing of himself from elsewhere and collaged it onto a blank page. All of the works are unsigned, though they are all in Berks's distinctive hand.
Some rubbing wear throughout outer covers, including at spine ends and corners. All pages are intact, binding is sound. A singular representation of rough works from an important 20th century sculptor.
